For the main activity, we make simple small bowls using a slab of clay. We start with a 7 inch round “cookie cutter” to cut out the bowl shape. This is placed on a hump mold and shaped by pressing with hands. Stamps are used to decorate the bowl and a foot ring is cut and added. After it is made, we bisque fire it, glaze it and then glaze fire it. Pieces are ready for pickup in two to four weeks.
If there is time, we can also tour the studio and try the pottery wheel. We don’t keep this work but it is fun to do.
Group Session
- Ninety Minute session
- Groups of 6 or more people. Up to 24. Cost for additional participants can be paid at time of class.
- Pieces are glazed and fired afterward, ready for pickup in two to four weeks.
- $15 per person (minimum group of six, $90) Plus tax. If you are sales tax exempt, please send the exemption letter to info@blazestl.org
